VISA FIFA WOrlD CUP BRAND HQ

An official partner of the FIFA World Cup, Visa hosted 4,000+ global guests in Doha, Qatar for the tournament with a takeover of the Mondrian Hotel turning it into the brand HQ for an exclusive experience over the 6-weeks of live gameplay. Visa’s consumer guests and clients received custom 2, 3, and 4-night packages to experience the excitement of the global tournament and highlights of Qatari culture.

The Lounge: served as the always-on hub and an extension of the Visa brand. Exclusive for Visa invited guests, the experience showcased the culture of Doha and the global passion for football. As part of the brand sponsorship, Visa integrated its FIFA partnership to create a youthful, energetic, and fun home base for the 4,000 global guests.

A custom 8-hole FootGolf course was constructed with each hole inspired by the architecture and themes of the 8 different tournament stadiums. A cross between football and mini golf, FootGolf participants who kicked a hole-in-one received an exclusive mini FWC football!

It was a not missed experience.

Visa Souq: turning the lobby into a bespoke market and offering guests exclusive products for purchase crafted by five local artisans. Product innovation unlocked this retail experience setting up the curated local shops with an NFC-enabled mobile phone making it easier for sellers to use their smartphones to accept contactless payments without additional hardware. Guests experienced seamless checkout via Visa tap-to-phone payment technology.

EllaMia Coffee Shop: just off the Hotel Lobby while guests shopped the exclusive Visa Souq, they were able to indulge in a crafted menu of local coffee, tea, and light bites. Guests used Visa FacePay payment technology at checkout receiving loyalty program rewards which unlocked exclusive branded takeaways. In partnership with PopID, Visa showcased biometric payments through a facial recognition demo at checkout.
